Participation in the EUE 2011
10 March 2011

Last week, in the 3rd March, the LIFE Habitat Lince Abutre Project was present at the ‘EUE 2011 – 9th Meeting of Esri Portugal Users’, with the communication ‘Cartography and identification of priority areas, using a GIS, for two critically endangered species: the Iberian lynx and the Black Vulture’.

This meeting, which took place at Lisbon’s Congress Centre in the 2nd and 3rd March, is the biggest event of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) held annually in Portugal, being an unique opportunity to share experiences, information and knowledge among all users of this software. The meeting encompassed more than 90 communications, distributed by 9 parallel sessions, to which attended hundreds of participants from diverse areas such as municipalities, institutions of central government, non-governmental organizations, research centers and universities, companies, among many others.

LIFE Habitat Lince Abutre Project’s communication included the main results of the work concerning the cartography and identification of priority areas for implementation of the conservation measures predicted to the target species, this way demonstrating the importance of a Geographical Information System applied to a Nature Conservation project.

The team of the Project takes this opportunity to thank the invitation addressed by the organization of this event to present its work.
